Insurance Coverage

The Alberta Fencing Association covers its *members with Commercial General Liability and Sport Accident. Excess travel is an option as needed.

The AFA insurance policies apply specifically to registered clubs, athletes, coaches, referees, volunteers listed under sanctioned tournaments, practices, or events. Coverage for the season begins September 1 until August 31 of the following year.

*Member is defined as anyone with a Participant, Associate, or Competitive License

Making a Claim

Insurance Claims must be submitted within 30 days of the injury occurring. Even if you do not require immediate attention/care, you should still open a claim to ensure you receive coverage for this incident in the future.

Sport Accident Insurance

If you are injured in a sanctioned event, please fill out the Sport Accident Claim Form within 30 days and send back via email to info@fencing.ab.ca.

The Sport Accident Insurance Policy is in place to ensure that you are not out-of-pocket for medical expenses incurred through a fencing injury. These are injuries that result in the following losses within 365 days after the date of accident. Please note these amounts are above what would normally be covered by Alberta Health Care, and Private Health Care Plans.  The policy does not cover lost wages from employment.

Ambulance Fees

Licensed Emergency Transportation unlimited, subject to Blanket

Physiotherapy ($300 maximum)

Accidental Dental

Out of Province Medical Accident (inside Canada)

Please note that all policy information is provided by Alberta Fencing is on a summary basis to give information on what coverages may be available under the Sports Accident and Travel Accident Policies.  There may be clauses that limit coverage under the policy and the policy must be reviewed in its entirety when determining coverage.
